Nissin Roasted Duck Sweet Onion Soup Cup Noodles

For some reason, I brought another European Nissin product from my recent trip to Europe. This time, I got my hands on the promising “Nissin Cup Noodles Roasted Duck Sweet Onion Soup” with the “Asian Blast” seal of approval. I don’t know who of the 4.5 billion Asians on this planet gave approval for this though.

The ingredient list shows us a promising 0.9% onion and 0.02% duck, with the duck being named last in the ingredient list, which means it is the one ingredient with the least amount of content in here. At the same time, it has the biggest font on the front of the ramen cup. Curious.

Content

Not much to tell here. Standard noodles coated with the soup powder. Some freeze dried veggies are in the mix though, like paprika pieces, white onion and some chives. Not a whole lot though. Once you are done, you will even find a few extremely small pieces of meat, which have fallen directly to the bottom as soon as you gave the cup a good mix.

Preparation

  1. Open lid.

  2. Pour in boiling water and close lid.

  3. Wait 3 minutes.

  4. Enjoy

  5. I did not have to write these steps down, it’s as simple as can be.

Review

If my introduction of the low content of the actual flavoring agents of this instant ramen cup gave you the impression that this bowl would be lacking flavor, you guessed absolutely right. It is very difficult to taste anything here, even when directly drinking the soup. Close to zero flavor sticks to the noodles when they are pulled. I know that European food can appear bland to some Asian food, but man, they did not have to adjust their cup ramen this far towards the target audiences taste buds.

The only positive thing is that the noodles were not as terrible as with the Ramen Masters Takumi cup by Nissin. They were inoffensive, not good, but tolerable.

Summarized, you can totally eat this cup, but you will be looking for the flavor throughout your meal, yearning and wishing for that little hit of onion or duck flavor. The biggest impact came from the freeze dried bits of paprika, which should tell you all you need to know about the Nissin Roasted Duck Sweet Onion Soup cup noodles by Nissin.
